Ceramic heating element

From WikiPets
Jump to: navigation, search

A ceramic heating element is often used in an animals enclosure to reproduce temperature conditions that would be present in its natural habitat. An electrical current passes through an element encountering resistance, producing heat as a result. Ceramic heating elements screw into a socket much like a lightbulb, but they do not emit any light. They produce a lot of heat and must only be used in a ceramic socket rated for the element or there is a risk of overheating and fire.
